MULTICENTER STUDY ON THE
NATURAL HISTORY OF CHIKUNGUNYA AND THERAPEUTIC RESPONSE
Main project with focus on acute and chronic musculoskeletal manifestations.
Eight thousand participants are monitored by a 3-year prospective cohort in order to estimate the rate of severity and chronification, as well as other factors associated with the disease.
This project evaluates disease management strategies in addition to estimating the socioeconomic and psychosocial impacts of Chikungunya, in order to provide evidence to guide health care strategies and policies across Brazil.
Replick is an interinstitutional clinical research partnership applied to Chikungunya, which aims to establish a biorepository/biobank on the disease.
The study is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (Decit) of the Brazilian Ministry of Health, and counts with 11 research centers in nine Brazilian states. Replick is coordinated by the Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INI/Fiocruz), in Rio de Janeiro.
